I grew up at a Camp Livng Waters in Luther, Michigan. I've lived and worked at Christian camps until I was 22. At the age of 16 we left camp and my dad became a small town pastor in Tustin, Michigan. I continued working at different camps on weekends and during the summer until after I graduated from college.
I graduated high school in 1992 from Pine River Jr.-Sr. High School. I then chose to attend Taylor University, in Upland, Indiana, because of the camp staff I met while living at Camp Living Waters. In 1996, I earned a degree in Elementary Education From Taylor.
During one of my summers while working at Center Lake Bible Camp, I met my wife Jennifer and we were married in 1997. Over the years she has worked as an aide in an elementary school, a homeschool mom, and a volunteer in youth ministry. She currently works at Battleground Skate House in Battle Creek which is a ministry whose goal is reaching out to the skateboard community bringing them the gospel and developing spiritual maturity in skaters.
We now have three children, Landon, Wyatt, and Ava. Landon, is an active teenager interested in bow hunting, horses, and any job he can get. Wyatt, is a creative tweenager who's interested in reading fantasy books, building and collecting Legos, and skateboarding at Battleground Skate House. Ava is a social girl who loves anything as long as she can do it with someone else. She especially loves playing games with anyone who's willing.
I have taught schools from 1996-2018. I spent two years as a substitute teacher, six years teaching fifth grade, ten years teaching 6th grade, and five years teaching seventh grade.
My wife and I came to Battle Creek Community Church in 2016 and have worked in the youth program soon after we began attending. I moved to a paid position in 2017 and am enjoying working with our middle school and high school youth group.
