My name is Dave Proulx (pronounced "Proo") and I'm so excited to be back in Battle Creek —a place our family calls home—to serve the local church and the community here.

We spent the last four years in Dallas while I finished my Th.M. at Dallas Theological Seminary and after that, the Lord made it clear that He was calling us back to Battle Creek to plant a church in an effort to help this community heal from division, and to pass on the education I was able to receive to a church and a community we love so dearly.

Aimee and I have been married for 13 years. She is the light of my life, and is just as passionate about ministry: first to our kids and our family, and then to women in the church. I am excited to see what the Lord does through her in women's ministry.

Our two kids, Bella and Jack, both love to sing and play music. They have always been active in choirs and plays. We have a feeling we may have two musical theater kids on our hands!

Before coming to faith in Christ, I received my undergraduate degree in Piano Performance and Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University, and then after coming to faith, served as a worship leader at a local church for 7 years.

I still enjoy playing in jazz trios and bands all around West Michigan. You may hear me occasionally with the Fred Knapp Trio, or on my own, singing and playing in the area.

I hope you decide to come and check out Battle Creek Community Church. We are a multi-generational church that is passionate about the life we have found in Jesus and are just as passionate about sharing Him with others.

We hope you are able to stop by sometime and attend a service with us. I'd love the opportunity to meet you.

Amy Asaro

Children's Director

My name is Amy Asaro and I am thrilled to be part of a church body that loves the children the Lord has placed in our family, but equally as important seeks to draw those in the surrounding neighborhood still in need of acceptance and saving grace.

Jesus grabbed my attention 30 years ago when I was a student at Central Michigan University and started a fire in my heart for young people that has continued to flame through many different opportunities throughout the years. As an elementary school teacher, social worker and mentor He allows me to grow, transform and become who He wants me to be as I seek to share His gift of grace with the young people He places in my life.

Battle Creek has been home to my husband, Dennis and I for the last 28 years. We have had the privilege of raising our three children here. Our oldest, Thayne, married last year and he and his wife, Sarah serve at Radiant Church in Richland, Michigan. Our daughter, Taryn and her husband Spencer married exactly one year before her older brother, and they live in Huntsville, Alabama as Spencer serves our country as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the United States Army. Our youngest Landon is still at home keeping us young and preparing to enter 9th grade in our homeschool academy. Being a mom has been, by far, the greatest gift even entrusted to me by Jesus and working with children at BC Community just allows me additional years to love on those that bring such incredible joy to my life.

I pray you will find a safe place at Battle Creek Community Church for your child to grow in knowledge and be challenged  to  follow the road Jesus has chosen for them. We look forward to meeting you and the young ones He has entrusted to your care.

I grew up at a Camp Livng Waters in Luther, Michigan. I've lived and worked at Christian camps until I was 22. At the age of 16 we left camp and my dad became a small town pastor in Tustin, Michigan. I continued working at different camps on weekends and during the summer until after I graduated from college.

I graduated high school in 1992 from Pine River Jr.-Sr. High School. I then chose to attend Taylor University, in Upland, Indiana, because of the camp staff I met while living at Camp Living Waters. In 1996, I earned a degree in Elementary Education From Taylor.

During one of my summers while working at Center Lake Bible Camp, I met my wife Jennifer and we were married in 1997. Over the years she has worked as an aide in an elementary school, a homeschool mom, and a volunteer in youth ministry. She currently works at Battleground Skate House in Battle Creek which is a ministry whose goal is reaching out to the skateboard community bringing them the gospel and developing spiritual maturity in skaters.

We now have three children, Landon, Wyatt, and Ava. Landon, is an active teenager interested in bow hunting, horses, and any job he can get. Wyatt, is a creative tweenager who's interested in reading fantasy books, building and collecting Legos, and skateboarding at Battleground Skate House. Ava is a social girl who loves anything as long as she can do it with someone else. She especially loves playing games with anyone who's willing.

I have taught schools from 1996-2018. I spent two years as a substitute teacher, six years teaching fifth grade, ten years teaching 6th grade, and five years teaching seventh grade.

My wife and I came to Battle Creek Community Church in 2016 and have worked in the youth program soon after we began attending. I moved to a paid position in 2017 and am enjoying working with our middle school and high school youth group.
